#Batarian homeworld plus
Plus now the SA's at an active disadvantage with a comparatively miniscule economy that is in the process of imploding. Their major edge over the Hegemony was that they had the Council backing them (at least tacitly) and now they don't even have that because Terra Firma is clinically brain dead.
Humanity's been a part of the galaxy for all of like four decades. They've been a part of the galactic community for centuries and have multiple worlds that are hundreds of millions strong.
#Batarian homeworld crack
And that's not to mention the fact that the batarians have a massive military-industrial complex (they outright bombed core salarian worlds and annexed independent worlds, have the infrastructure to support dreadnought production, and have settled a lot of mining worlds that they crack open with machinery and slave labor) and time. I mean sure yeah there's the Codex but that's IC biased and doesn't hold up against the fact that the vast majority of something like over half the galaxy is batarian. Which includes the Renegade & Colonist Shepard whose parents were killed on Mindoir and massacred the Batarians on Torfan.Ĭlick to shrink. This is kinda the first problem here in that there's nothing to indicate that they are. The goal of the Batarians is simply to withstand the System Alliances assault until the Council steps in to broker a settled peace and ceasefire.Įssentially in this scenario is it possible for the Batarians to survive the wrath of an enraged humanity. In contrast the Batarians despite being initially weaker militarily have begun developing thanix weaponry, advanced kinetic barriers and other Reaper derived technology from the recovered corpse of the Leviathan of Dis and have the support of many of the clandestine criminal organizations of the Terminus Systems. The goal of the Systems Alliance Military is essentially to use their superior military power to force the unconditional surrender of the Batarian Hegemony, and break them as an interstellar power, before the Council intervenes to force a settled peace agreement. As a result the SA's Associate status is temporarily suspended in response to humanity's continued neglect of Council authority. Unsatisfied with the Council's approach and egged on by their Cerberus backers the Terra Firma party lead by Charles Saracino declares war on the Batarian Hegemony without consulting the Council. Instead of rushing towards war, the Council shocked by the scale of destruction launches a spectre lead investigation into the attack, and levies economic sanctions against the Batarian Hegemony, but are unwilling to commit themselves to a war against the Hegemony despite their superior position. The rapidly approaching election leads to the Terra Firma taking control of the SA government, with their promises to avenge the destruction of Terra Nova. In response to this attack the faith in the Systems Alliance government is shattered due to their defense policies which enabled the attack. However the events of Bring Down the Sky occur and since Shepard is not granted emergency spectre status in this continuity he is not in place to save the colony of Terra Nova from being destroyed by Batarian terrorists lead by Balak.Īs a result 4.4 million citizens die on one of humanity's most prosperous offeworld colonies, in addition to crashing the SA economy, which was booming due to the vast mineral wealth of Terra Nova. Shepard and Nihlus travel to get the beacon and without an immediate emergency he is not fast tracked to Spectre status like in ME1. In this continuity, Saren and the Geth never attack Eden Prime and Sovereign is still dormant.
So I have been playing through ME1 and just finished the Bring Down the Sky DLC and decided to posit this scenario.
